New software name Mozillod5.2f5: not on Mozilla's list, so check first

Mozilla's official release list has no entry called Mozillod5.2f5. The newest version on that list is Firefox 158.0, as of 14 October 2026. Six pages that describe the name give four different answers about what it is.

None of them link to a developer.

Short answer: do not install anything named Mozillod5.2f5. If you want a Mozilla browser, use the official download page at firefox.com.

What Mozilla's own release list shows

Firefox versions on Mozilla's list use plain dotted numbers, such as 157.0.1 and 152.0.6.

No entry has letters in the middle of the number.

The list does include 5.0 and 5.0.1, and it has no 5.2 line at all.

You can read the whole list on Mozilla's Firefox release list.

Among the five pages that list a minimum, two say 2 GB, one says 4 GB, and two say 8 GB.

They also disagree on the oldest system that works. One says Windows 7 or later, and another says Windows 10.

Two pages list a $9.99 monthly plan, and one of them adds a $29.99 monthly plan. A third page lists $49.99 paid yearly.

One page cites a 4.3-star average from more than 15,000 users and names no platform. It also cites a beta group of 500 users with no source.

None of the pages that list prices or system needs link to a developer site or an official download.

Install advice to skip

Two install guides tell readers to download from Mozilla's official site. Mozilla's release list has no such version, so that step cannot work.

One of them also says to switch off your antivirus if the installer is flagged. Keep your security software on for any file you cannot trace to a developer.

Firefox can also block dangerous downloads, and Mozilla's help page shows where that setting lives.

Our free VPN guide has a red flag list for free apps. One flag is no named company with an address.

That matches what these six pages show. More checks like it are in our free consumer tools articles.

If you already installed something with this name

Nothing here proves the name is malware, and nothing here proves it is safe. These four steps cover the likely risks:

  1. Uninstall it. On Windows, open Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps (Microsoft's steps). On macOS, drag it from Applications to the Trash, then empty the Trash (Apple's steps).

  2. Run a full scan with your security software.

  3. Change the password of any account you typed into it.

  4. Open your browser's extension list and remove any you did not add.

If no program by that name shows up, look in your Downloads folder for the file you ran.

Get a real Mozilla browser

Mozilla's Firefox download page lists installers for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and Linux. Use that page for a Mozilla browser, and download nothing else under the Mozilla name.

Mozilla's install guide for Windows points to that same firefox.com page.

Pages give 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM as the minimum. Because the figures conflict and no developer page is linked, none of them can be trusted.

Mozilla's release list, download page and help pages, plus the Microsoft and Apple uninstall pages, verified 14 October 2026. Claims about other pages are as shown that day.

Where to start

Delete the installer if you have one, and download Firefox from firefox.com instead.

If a developer page appears later, check that it names a company and a contact. Trust no price until it does.
